ESTELA REYES wasn't born wealthy. She was raised by working-class parents in the Dominican Republic, from whom she learned what it takes to provide for the family- and their community.

She moved from city of Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic to Lawrence, Massachusetts over thirty years ago. Estela became a homeowner at the age of twenty, thanks to her financial discipline, commitment, and determination.

Estela, a proud mother of two children, has worked vigorously to help others accomplish their goals whether it be as a community leader promoting civic engagement, or as a five-term Lawrence City Councilor for District B fighting for every tax dollar for her constituents. With eleven years of experience as an elected official, Estela has proven herself as a valued, integral part of the City of Lawrence and understands the importance of working tirelessly to bring resources to the Merrimack Valley.

In addition to serving as the Lawrence City Council District B Councilor, Estela was nominated Vice President of the Lawrence City Council by her peers and currently serves as the Chair of the Ordinance Committee and is a Member of the Personnel Committee. Estela also serves as a member of the Community Development Advisory Board (CDAB), advising the Mayor on the distribution of Lawrence’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

As the first State Representative for the newly created Massachusetts 4th Essex district, covering parts of Lawrence and Methuen, Estela will introduce a balanced legislative plan that will be focused on Education, Health Care, Public Safety, Infrastructure, and Economic Development.
